POSITION SUMMARY:
The 340B Specialist will play a critical role for our client organizations, providing 340B Drug Pricing Program technical and analytical support, functioning as a liaison and analyst, and ensuring appropriate utilization and compliance with 340B Program requirements. Such management and coordination includes assuring qualifications for the program are met and maintained; the program is fully implemented in all areas of qualified use; related records are complete and accurate; and that it meets all primary objectives as defined by the leadership of the organization. The support will extend across all types of Covered Entities and encompasses mixed-use, retail-owned pharmacies, and contract pharmacies.
POSITION TITLE: 340B Specialist
REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, Hospital & Health System Services
LOCATION: United States (remote/home based)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to organization’s compliance expertise on 340B Program details, policies, and procedures to include tracking and reporting, purchasing and inventory oversight, and 340B software maintenance
- Offer and provide guidance to clients regarding their 340B Program, and provide necessary reporting
- Develop 340B related policies and procedures
- Understand Medicare cost reports, trial balances, and crosswalks, to ensure covered entity accuracy
- Claims tracer experience, to include mixed-use, retailed-owned, and contract pharmacy
- Understanding of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) practices as it relates to retail claims adjudication
- Analyze contract pharmacy service agreements (PSAs) to ensure compliance with regulations and OPAIS database
- Provide ongoing training, education, and communication required for the 340B Program
- Perform audits through developing, executing, and documenting of 340B compliance
- Assess opportunities for cost savings and business improvements in 340B contract pharmacy utilization, purchasing, and inventory practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three or more years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Buyer in an acute care setting
- 340B Drug Pricing Program purchasing activities and analysis experience
- GPO and Wholesaler contracting utilizing wholesaler reports and GPO pricing experience
- Pharmaceutical purchasing/inventory experience
- Proficiency with at least one split billing vendor/platform(s)
- 340B split billing internal audit experience
- Working knowledge of at least one electronic medical record system
- Expertise in other areas of pharmacy practice or management
- Resides near a major US International Airport
SKILL SETS:
- Accuracy and timeliness and an attention to detail
- Proficiency with personal computers and computer applications, to include Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing software and 340B split-billing software desirable
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
- Customer focused with strong personable, social, and communication skills
- Ability to identify and resolve issues

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
OTHER:
This is a home-based, salaried position (primarily Monday-Friday and day shift) with roughly 50% travel to client sites and meetings, including visiting hospital sites with possible short notice. Travel may, at times, require long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
