ST. PAUL, MINN. – October 12, 2022 – Health system pharmacy consulting firm Visante announced that Erick Siegenthaler, Pharm.D., M.H.A., joined the firm as the practice lead for its quickly growing Infusion Services and Site-of-Care Strategies set of services for health systems.
Infusions services and site-of-care strategies are an emerging market for health systems nationwide. The total U.S. infusion market was estimated to be $100 billion in 2021, including $14 billion for home infusion services alone. Home infusion is expected to grow to over $21 billion in the next five years[1]. Hospitals and health systems are adding home and alternative site of care infusion services in various ambulatory settings to improve patient care, reduce the cost of care, and capture revenue lost to competing infusion providers.
“Infusion therapy services has a big impact on the health system’s bottom line, overall financial performance and patient convenience, shifting care out of a higher-cost setting to a lower-cost setting. It’s vital for every health system to have a plan in place to mitigate payor mandates, or significant losses are on the horizon,” explains Steve Rough, SVP at Visante.
Phil Brummond, Visante SVP, stated, “Erick has a vast amount of experience and success in home infusion start up services, business planning, specialty infusion, payer strategy around site-of-care, and prior authorization and patient assistance programs. We are really excited about the future of this service area and know that Erick’s leadership will be of monumental value to our clients.”
Before joining Visante, Siegenthaler was the Director of Pharmacy – Home Infusion Services at Froedtert Health in Milwaukee. At Froedtert, Siegenthaler created and implemented a home infusion service line which surpassed $30 million annual net revenue within five years, operating a full-service home infusion pharmacy with two ambulatory infusion suites.
Siegenthaler is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP), National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, NHIA Government Accountability Committee and has served on the NHIA Board of Directors. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
