Sandy Tan (Pharm D) is a Visante Senior Director, Drug Policy & Pharmacotherapy. She has special expertise in medication safety initiatives, professional education programs, and inpatient pharmacy operations.  At Visante, she is the go-to person for researching the most recently published regulatory, drug policy, and pharmacotherapy information.

Sandy's work has been praised by several Visante clients. These projects involved highly technical pharmaceutical research for the development and regular updating of critical drug lists requiring detailed documentation and data supporting best practices.

Because of her detailed knowledge and expertise, Sandy is often included on client work for all practice areas. She has also conducted detailed literature reviews for Visante's on-going best practices research.

Prior to becoming a Visante pharmacotherapy specialist, Sandy served as Manager of Pharmacy Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Her responsibilities there included overseeing all operational functions for the central pharmacy as well as the many inpatient and outpatient departments it serves. She also oversaw the medical center's programs for primary care pharmacy residency, intern pharmacists, and pharmacy assistants.

During this time, Sandy participated in multiple award-winning quality improvement projects in the areas of medication use compliance, medication safety, pain management, and antiemetic use.

As she transitioned from hospital pharmacy work, Sandy provided consulting services to several clients. At McGill University Health Center in Montreal, Canada, she worked on medication safety initiatives. She also developed physician education materials for MedVantx, Inc.

She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy. She completed a post-graduate clinical pharmacy residency at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, California. She went on to complete a second residency in pharmacy management practice under the mentorship of Dr. Rita Shane at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Sandy has been a contributing author to Wolters Kluwer Health and the Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
